Supporting our community
We live here too. And we play an active role in supporting our community through partnerships with organizations committed to our environment, water quality and education.
Conestee Nature Preserve
This 640-acre wildlife sanctuary is located next to ReWa’s 300-plus-acre Mauldin Road campus. Together, the preserve and ReWa have dedicated nearly 1,000 acres of green space for conservation, education and recreation. ReWa is among the sponsors for the preserve’s Conestee Nature Playscape, allowing young learners to play, build and explore the outdoors. ReWa also sponsors three weeks of fully immersive summer camps for middle school students in Greenville County through Conestee Nature Preserve.
Friends of the Reedy River
ReWa has been a longtime partner of the Friends of the Reedy River, including sponsorship of initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of riparian buffers, naturally vegetated strips of land along bodies of water that protect water quality by providing habitats for wildlife and storing floodwaters.
Reedy River Water Quality Group
ReWa works alongside city and county government, other utilities, conservation groups and others to protect the Reedy River through the Reedy River Water Quality Group. This group is commended for organizing stakeholders to develop a water quality improvement plan for the watershed.
Roper Mountain Science Center
Throughout the year, ReWa’s team celebrates and participates in the STEM education days while providing hands-on activities. ReWa and partner utilities also sponsor a permanent exhibit depicting the urban water cycle, and it includes interactive features.
Upstate Forever
Upstate Forever and ReWa have partnered to protect 72.7 acres of land in northern Greenville County, preserving green space for future generations.
