Joining the Upstate for environmental efforts

In addition to hosting our own events, ReWa is dedicated to supporting the community’s environmental efforts.

ReWa participates in a range of environmental events, such as Earth Day events, Saturday Markets, and more. If you have an event coming up that promotes environmental advancement, water conservation, or other preservation based events and would like a ReWa representative to attend or participate, please fill out the form below.

In 2010, ReWa, along with other community partners, founded Project Rx: a River Remedy medication collection event. This coalition seeks to educate the community on proper medication disposal and to provide a safe and free disposal option.

The Project Rx partners include Bon Secours St. Francis Health System,  Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, Greenville County Medical Society, Greenville Family Partnership, Greenville Health System Police Department, Greenville Technical College, ReWa and the US Drug Enforcement Administration. Each organization comes to the table for a different reason – be it environmental protection, pharmaceutical education, or drug abuse prevention – but for the same ultimate purpose: to safely dispose of unused medications to keep our community safe and healthy.

For many years, Project Rx offered annual drug take back events across the Upstate for residents to safely dispose of unused medication. The partners of Project Rx soon realized the growing demand for safe drug disposal and decided to offer a more permanent solution to residents. Today, Project Rx has multiple, permanent drug disposal bins across the Upstate, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing a safe and convenient drug disposal option for the community. A complete list of Project Rx disposal bin locations is available at www.ariverremedy.org/locations.

While the face of Project Rx has evolved over the years, the mission has remained the same. The partners of Project Rx look forward to serving the Upstate community for years to come.
