Erik Green, asset management program manager; Jess Knox, asset management training coordinator; Emily Stopka, laboratory services supervisor; Tamika Watt, quality control coordinator; Angie Price, technical services officer; and Dillon Thompson, project manager, are giving presentations during the 2026 South Carolina Environmental Conference on behalf of Renewable Water Resources (ReWa).

GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA—Water professionals across the state will gather in Myrtle Beach from March 15-18 for the annual South Carolina Environmental Conference (SCEC), and six employees from Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) will deliver presentations.

Here’s a summary of presentations involving ReWa’s team:

“Leveraging GIS for Post-Storm Event Infrastructure Assessment”

Speaker: Erik Green

Following Hurricane Helene, ReWa’s GIS team developed an assessment tool to assess damage and the conditions of the utility’s assets.

“Leveraging GIS and Cityworks for Property Management”

Speaker: Jess Knox

ReWa’s GIS team collaborated with departments across the utility to develop a comprehensive and authoritative property inventory, which includes a corresponding dashboard. This work provided a centralized digital record of all ReWa-owned properties and a consolidated GIS data warehouse with the utility’s information regarding properties.

“Foundations for the Future: Innovation, Collaboration and Growth in a Utility Laboratory”

Speakers: Emily Stopka and Tamika Watt

This presentation highlights how ReWa’s wastewater laboratory is strengthening performance through expanded in-house testing, 5S workspace and workflow improvements, workforce development, LIMS evaluation and applied research partnerships. It will include strategies to reduce costs, improve turnaround times and data quality while building long-term operational resilience in utility laboratories.

“RIA- SCIIP Transformational Impact Showcase”

Panelist: Angie Price

This panel discussion will focus on the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority and the South Carolina Infrastructure Improvement Program’s funding opportunities. Price will discuss how ReWa’s work in the Pelzer and West Pelzer communities benefits from this funding.

“Is the Juice Worth the Squeeze? Maximizing Capacity of a Wastewater Pump Station While Decommissioning a Wastewater Lagoon”

Speakers: Dillon Thompson and contractors from Weston & Sampson

This presentation will focus on how the utility replaced a small pump station in a neighborhood developed in the late 1970s and decommissioned the neighborhood’s original treatment lagoon. The various challenges and decisions the utility faced will be discussed.

“Building a Sewer through the Swamp: ReWa’s 60-inch Swamp Rabbit Trunk Sewer”

Speakers: Dillon Thompson and a contractor from Stantec

Presenters will focus on the challenges and lessons learned while designing a highly complex trunk sewer between downtown Greenville and Travelers Rest.
