ReWa earns multiple NACWA Peak Performance Awards

The operations team for Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) was recognized during the utility's September board of commissioners meeting after each of ReWa's water resource recovery facilities was awarded National Association of Clean Water Agencies' (NACWA) Peak Performance Awards.

GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA (September 22, 2026)—Each of Renewable Water Resources’ (ReWa) nine water resource recovery facilities received National Association of Clean Water Agencies’ (NACWA) Peak Performance Awards.

The recognition is based on 2025 compliance and performance related to the utility’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits.

“We’re proud that all nine of our facilities earned NACWA Peak Performance Awards this year,” said Brian Smith, ReWa’s operations services officer. “Consistent compliance reflects the dedication of teams across our utility and ReWa’s commitment to protecting public health and water quality for every community we serve.”

Three ReWa water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs) earned Platinum Peak Performance Awards for being in 100% compliance for at least five consecutive years:

  • Mauldin Road (22 years)
  • Georges Creek (21 years)
  • Marietta (20 years)

Five WRRFs were recognized with Gold Peak Performance Awards for being in perfect compliance in 2025:

  • Durbin Creek (four years)
  • Piedmont (four years)
  • Lower Reedy (two years)
  • Pelham (two years)
  • North Greenville University (one year)

One WRRF was given a Silver Peak Performance Award for having outstanding compliance with only a single violation in 2025:

  • Gilder Creek

ReWa treats and returns 41 million gallons of water daily into Upstate rivers and streams. NPDES permits are required for facilities that release into waterways across the United States to protect water quality and human health.

NACWA recognized 540 treatment facilities at 206 of its member agencies for outstanding levels of compliance and performance. NACWA provides legislative, regulatory, legal and communications advocacy for public wastewater and stormwater agencies across the country.
