Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) teams continue to monitor three sites following weather-related sewer overflows. Samples are being collected and laboratory analyses are taking place. The utility will continue to post updates regarding progress and new details as information becomes available. For additional information, please contact our hotline at 864-299-4004. (ReWa) confirmed on Wednesday that it restored operations at five sites where Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) occurred during heavy rains on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
- An SSO began at 11 a.m. near Club Forest Lane within the Reedy River Basin in Greenville. It ended at 1 p.m. when flows returned to normal.
- Another SSO was first reported at 11:25 a.m. near Melbourne Road within the Enoree River Basin in Greenville. It ended at 2 p.m. when flows returned to normal.
- Three SSOs occurred near Driftwood Lane within the Enoree River Basin in the Taylors area. Those overflows were initially reported at 10:55 a.m. One ended at 4:30 p.m. and the remaining two ceased at 8:15 p.m.
These events have NOT affected ReWa’s ability to provide sewer service to the area.
All reported SSOs on Tuesday were caused by heavy rainfall, and the overflows noted above were measured to reflect volumes of more than 5,000 gallons. Proper notifications have been made to all proper regulatory authorities, including the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC).
